Description
John Knox House on the Royal Mile, Edinburgh, is a historic timber-framed house, and is reputed to have been owned and lived in by a Protestant reformer during the 16th century. The timber used in the creation of the lamp was one of four pieces cut from a large oak beam lintel that supported a large arched cupboard. The beam was tree-ring dated (Dendrochronology) to 1560. The oak was originally from a tree imported from Norway some years earlier. The tree was possibly felled around the late 1400s.
The lamp measures approximately 30cm wide and c.30cm high and is fitted with a 1.5m long cable with in-line switch. Tooling (carpenters marks) are visible on the sides of the piece. If required, the lampshade is included in the price.
Cost £150 including UK postage.
